Le Groupe d’Action Locale du Pays de la Vallée de Montluçon et du Cher met en place une coopération autour des canaux avec un territoire du Yorkshire. par Florence Néel-Farina - florence.neel-farina@centrefrance.com.

Les canaux ont pour but de transporter des marchandises et ainsi de relier les hommes. Depuis 2010, ils rapprochent également le Pays de la Vallée de Montluçon et du Cher et une partie du Yorkshire, dans l’est de la GrandeBretagne.

Une exposition itinérante et un film.

C’est autour de ce thème des canaux qu’une coopération se met actuellement en place entre le Groupement d’Action Locale (GAL) du Pays de la Vallée de Montluçon et du Cher et le GAL anglais Coast Wolds Wetlands et Waterways...

Tourism : an English delegation in the Montlucon and Cher Valley district

The local action group of the Montlucon and Cher valley district have linked up with a similar group in Yorkshire through a shared interest in the waterways.

VISITS : Paul Cooper and Christine Johnstone (2nd and 3rd from the left) have explored the Canal de Berry and the industrial heritage of the district.

Waterways have as a goal the transportation of goods and, in doing so, they draw people together. Since 2010, the waterways have linked a group from Montlucon and Cher with a group from Yorkshire to the east of Great Britain.

A travelling exhibition and a film

It was on the subject of the waterways that an agreement to co-operate was set up between the Groupement d`action locale (GAL) of the Montlucon and Cher Valley district and its English equivalent, the Coast, Wolds,Wetlands, and Waterways group in Yorkshire. The agreement was supprted by the European programme for rural development 2007-2013.* Its objective is to develop the waterways heritage in localities and the economic heritage which extends beyond the waterways...
